West-Scantlebury to be EAST Conference 2016 Keynote

Sherece Y. West-Scantlebury, Ph.D., president and CEO of the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation, has accepted an invitation to be the keynote speaker for EAST Conference 2016. West-Scantlebury will deliver the keynote address during the Gala event on the second night of Conference, March 16.

"The mission of the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation includes improving the lives of all Arkansans through the interrelated areas of education and economic development,” said West-Scantlebury. “I am delighted to have the opportunity to address the students and educators of EAST, a program that recognizes that correlation and the importance of preparing today's students for tomorrow's workforce."

Involved in philanthropy for more than 20 years, Dr. West-Scantlebury served as CEO at the Foundation for Louisiana and as a program associate at the Annie E. Casey Foundation. Her professional career includes nearly 30 years of experience in community development, public policy and advocacy, and public service.

“Dr. West-Scantlebury is an engaging speaker with a tremendous vision. She sees a future that we should all aspire to be a part of, one of vast possibility in which the robust potential of education is harnessed to create endless opportunities for students in Arkansas and beyond, the very shapers — and inheritors — of that future,” said Matt Dozier, president and CEO of the EAST Initiative.

“We are ecstatic that she agreed to come present the keynote for our students, indeed, for the whole EAST family, at our biggest event of the year.”

The Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation is a private, independent foundation whose mission is to improve the lives of all Arkansans in three interrelated areas: economic development; education; and economic, racial, and social justice.

In addition to running the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation, West is active in a number of nonprofits and philanthropy organizations.
